Rally For Our Rights

Join us at the rally to speak out against the Government of Saskatchewan's rash and irresponsible decision to override the Charter of Rights and Freedoms by invoking the notwithstanding clause.

Premier Scott Moe's use of this clause is a dangerous move that threatens the rights of all Canadians.

Our Proclamation

STOP OUTING KIDS
Outing children as part of a political gamble is violent and despicable. This has been echoed by the judiciary and the Saskatchewan Advocate for Children & Youth. 2SLGBTQIA+ rights are workers’ rights.

DEFEND THE CHARTER
The unprecedented pre-emptive use of the notwithstanding clause (S.33) is authoritarian, running roughshod on rights and freedoms. Attacking vulnerable kids is the thin edge of a political wedge of which no charter rights are guaranteed. In this environment, workers’ fundamental rights to collective bargain, to strike, and to join a union are no longer safe.

END THE CHAOS
Scott Moe clings to power by dividing, distracting, and creating chaos. He’s taking his lead from the hate-fueled politics of Donald Trump, embracing dog-whistles like “parental rights” and “judicial overreach.” This pulls attention away from our crumbling schools, hospitals, & social services; it distracts from our worst-in-the-nation economy.

Gutter politics must not divide working people. The union that makes us strong is under siege.

How is safety being ensured for attendees?

Safety is always a priority at rallies, and is top-of-mind when vulnerable people are under attack in a hyper-polarized environment.

  • We are securing trained marshals and crowd control personnel from within the labour movement and community organizations.
  • We are working with the Legislative Assembly and Wascana Centre to ensure there is an adequate & mindful presence from Legislative Security and municipal police.
  • We are working with media, community networks, and organizers to implement best practices around capturing photos and videos to ensure safety of all attendees.
