Regina: Stop the Next Co-op Refinery "Scab Camp"

The collective bargaining agreement between Unifor 594 and Federation Co-op Limited for refinery workers expired in January.

The Federated Co-op Limited is asking the City of Regina for permission to build a "scab camp." The employer has admitted this camp could be used to house scab workers in another work stoppage similar to the six-month job action that happened in 2019.

Citizens of the City of Regina can say "no" to this Scab Camp! Here's how:

• Visit the "Proposed Development" page at the City of Regina website.
• Go to "PL202600240 – 1102 N Fleet Street".
• Click on "Comment Sheet"
• Where it says "What is the File Number of the proposal you are commenting on?", enter: PL202600240
• Fill out the form and tell the City of Regina how you feel about the prospect of another scab camp.

Form Answers do not need to sound clever or fancy. Short, simple, and direct answers are best. You do have to fill out the contact information portion of the form. Anonymous responses are often discarded.

You can help by telling the Minister of Labour that you oppose allowing scab labour in Saskatchewan:

• Write a short e-mail to Hon. Ken Cheveldayoff, MLA, (the Minister of Labour Relatons) and tell him you oppose the use of scab labour in Saskatchewan.
• Tell the Minister that Saskatchewan should have anti-scab labour legislation, similar to the legislation that already exists in Quebec, Manitoba, and British Columbia.
• Send the email to minister.ae@gov.sk.ca.
• CC Nathaniel Teed, MLA and Opposition Shadow Minister for Labour at saskatoonmeewasin@ndpcaucus.sk.ca.
