Bea Bruske is the President of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC). Bea has led Canada’s unions to significant wins for the workers of this country. Under Bea’s leadership, Canada’s unions proudly fought for, and won: 10 days of paid sick leave for workers in the federal sector; dental care for children in low-income families; a 30-billion-dollar national child care program which was decades in the making; new health care accords adding 46 billion dollars over ten years; billions of dollars in investments for affordable housing and infrastructure; double the funding for union-provided apprenticeship training; and legislation to protect workers’ pensions when companies go bankrupt, making them the first priority ahead of big banks and creditors.

Adam Conover is a board member for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) West, as well as a comedian, actor, and writer for television. He’s known from performances on “Adam Ruins Everything”, “BoJack Horseman” and “The G Word.” He has also produced podcasts, including “Factually!”, which discusses unions, artificial intelligence, and other issues.

He sat on the WGA negotiation committee during their 148-day strike in 2023, which hinged on the use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry. That strike won protection for workers from A.I. stealing their writing and reducing their pay.

Conover will talk about his experiences negotiating on A.I. issues and what impact this technology has on workplaces.

Jason MacLean is the Secretary-Treasurer for the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), representing 450,000 workers across Canada. Born and raised in the working-class community of Whitney Pier in Nova Scotia, he's also led the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union as President. As a labour leader, Jason has earned respect for his consistent commitment to social justice, equity, and solidarity, and for the clarity, dynamism, and unifying approach he brings to movement building across the National Union and in the broader progressive movement in Canada and internationally.

Jessica McCormick is the President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour, Jessica has worked in labour, student and social justice movements since 2010. Prior to her role with the Federation, Jessica was a Public Relations, Communications and Research Officer with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees. She has also worked as Director of Public Affairs with the Fish, Food and Allied Workers Union and has served as National Chairperson of the Canadian Federation of Students, representing more than 600,000 college and university students.
