2025 Budget Must Commit to Workers
Released March 19, 2025

REGINA – The 2025 provincial budget must respond to trade war uncertainty and economic stagnation workers are facing, says the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour.
"Workers are worried about what this trade war will mean for their jobs and their communities," said SFL President Lori Johb. She notes that many Saskatchewan look to Manitoba and Ontario, as their Premiers offer an enthusiastic, all-hands-on-deck approach to standing up to Trump.
She adds that while corporations get roundtables and junkets with the Premier, workers have been all but forgotten in the Sask. Party’s trade war response. "Here in Saskatchewan, workers haven’t been contacted by Mr. Moe about any of this,” said Johb. “And as they say - if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.”
A reminder at budget time: it wouldn’t cost a dime to for the Premier to meet with the most at-risk workers.

This budget is an opportunity for the Sask. Party government to really commit to Saskatchewan workers, including investment in:
- Better jobs with good paycheques
- Quality, reliable public services
- Trade & utility infrastructure
The SFL reiterates its demand for strengthened workplace safety protections, and hopes this budget dedicates resources to reduce serious workplace incidents.
